Guide to Maintaining your Flyer™ e-Bike or e-Scooter

e-Bikes

As with a traditional non-electric bike, your e-Bike will require regular maintenance to ensure a safe ride. Follow the tips below and consult with a professional bike mechanic as needed:

  • Regularly perform an inspection of your bike. Periodically and before each use, look for signs of improper alignment, issues with security or functional issues.
  • Keep your bike clean. Clean your bike using a damp cloth and non-corrosive biodegradable cleaners as needed. Do not use anything more forceful or you may damage your bike.
  • Regularly perform professional maintenance checks. Once a year, bring your bike to a certified bike mechanic for a full maintenance check.
  • Replace your bike's brake pads. Take note of any changes in how the braking feels when riding your bike. Your e-Bike will travel faster and typically with more weight than a standard bike, and the brake pads will typically wear down faster than a traditional bike. Check your bike's brake pads regularly and replace whenever you notice wear.
  • Inspect your bike's paint. To prevent rust, use touchup paint to cover any scratches or chips in the paint.

e-Scooters

Your e-Scooter will require regular maintenance to ensure a safe ride. Follow the tips below and consult with a professional mechanic as needed:

  • Regularly perform an inspection of your scooter. Periodically and before each use, look for signs of improper alignment, issues with security or functional issues. With your scooter powered on, check that the headlight and brake lights are illuminating.
  • Check your air pressure. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the tire pressure and ensure it is inflated to the listed specification.
  • Keep your scooter clean. Clean your bike using a damp cloth and non-corrosive biodegradable cleaners as needed. Do not use anything more forceful or you may damage your scooter.
  • Inspect your scooter's paint. To prevent rust, use touchup paint to cover any scratches or chips in the paint.
