#881 Motor Controller Replacement

Follow the steps below to swap the motor controller on your 881

     Tools Needed: 4mm allen wrench, Phillips screwdriver

     Compatible Models: Flyer™ 881

Getting the Bike Ready for Servicing

  1. Remove the battery.

  2. Press and hold the power button the display to discharge any remaining power in the bike.

Removing the Motor Controller

  1. With the help of another person, flip the bike upside down.
  2. Snip the 3 zip-ties securing the motor controller to the bike.

  3. Disconnect the motor cable.

  4. Disconnect the 2 cables shown below.

  5. Remove the 2 bolts securing the motor controller to the frame.

  6. Pull the grommet free from the downtube.
  7. Follow the cables from the front of the controller into the downtube of the frame.
  8. Disconnect 2 additional cables as shown below.

  9. Remove the motor controller from the bike.

Installing the New PCM

  1. Set the new motor controller in place along the bottom of the frame. Be sure to align the holes on the controller with those on the frame.

  2. Secure the new PCM to the bike with 2 bolts.

  3. Feed the two cables from the front of the controller through the grommet.

  4. Connect the cables at the front of the controller to the bike's harness as shown below.

  5. Fit the 2 cables into the downtube.

  6. Fit the grommet back into the downtube.

  7. Connect the 2 cables are the back of the controller to the bike as shown below.

  8. Zip tie the cables to the frame.

  9. Connect the cable from the new controller to the motor.

  10. Zip tie the motor cable in place at the 2 locations shown below.

Preparing to Ride

  1. Reinstall the battery.

  2. Fully test the bike’s function prior to riding.
