Brake Pad Replacement

Follow the steps below to replace the display on your Flyer™ eBike.

     Tools Needed: Needle nose pliers or similar

     Compatible Models: Flyer™ 850, 851, 852, 860, 880, 884, 885, & 886.

 

Getting the Bike Ready for Servicing

Follow the front or rear wheel removal guide for your respective bike model.

Removing the Old Brake Pads

  1. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to bend the end of cotter pin straight.
  2. Pull the cotter pin out of the brake caliper.

  3. Push the brake pads out from the back of the caliper.
  4. Pull the pads free.

Preparing the New Brake Pads

  1. Fit the new pads into the spring clip.

Installing the New Brake Pads

  1. For hydraulic brakes, you may need to push the pistons inside the caliper outward using a flathead screwdriver.

  2. For mechanical brakes, note you may need to adjust cable tension and pad position.


  3. Install the new pads into the caliper as shown below.

  4. Secure the pads in the caliper by reinstalling the cotter pin.
  5. Use pliers to bend the longer end of the cotter pin to lock it in place.

  6. Note, after replacing the brake pads you may need to tune your brakes for ideal performance and properly bed them in.
